Trustworthy business offers flexibility to fulfill clients’ needs

-

Quincy Hurst, chief operating officer of Hot Springs-based Superior Senior Care, can’t remember a time the family business was not a part of his life and consciousness.

“My mom started this company when I was 2 years old,” said Hurst, who’s been in his current role for 17 years. “I sort of grew up around it.”

In that time, the landscape of in-home care has changed dramatically in scope and in cost, which is why Hurst is not only proud to have weathered so many market ups and downs over nearly 40 years in business, but to continue to do it at a very high level. The company was once again voted Best In-home Care in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette’s Best of the Best voting.

“I think what people are looking for, No. 1 — they’re looking for a trustworthy company,” he said. “It’s such an important decision that they’re making, whether it’s for themselves or for a loved one. It’s a personal decision; it’s a big decision. It’s coming into their homes. It’s helping them with stuff that’s very personal. I think the utmost desire, what they’re looking for, is a company they can trust 100 percent.”

Superior Senior Care has grown into 26 locations throughout Arkansas, giving the company reach into every corner of the state. That and the flexibility the company affords its clients to create care solutions that fit their needs and preferences have been key to the company’s longevity.

“People like a company that gives them flexibility, and that puts their decisions and their direction above the company’s,” Hurst said. “That’s what we do, and I think that’s a big benefit in how we’re set up. We enable people to direct their own care. They get to choose the person they want, they get to choose their schedule, and they get to choose the tasks that they need help with.”

The company has also remained stable and accessible, having been privately owned since Rita Hurst hung her shingle in

Hot Springs in 1985. This creates a degree of accountability that is unmatched in the industry.

“Clients can call the owner; they can come visit the corporate office if they need to. I

think people like that,” Quincy Hurst said. “We’re loyal to the state, and we’re only in Arkansas. I think our clients understand that, and they want to deal with someone local. That’s another part of our success.”
