What CARTI’s physicians do best: Serving cancer patients
BEST IMAGING CENTER CARTI Cancer Center BEST ONCOLOGIST Keith Mooney, M.D. FINALISTS: BEST ONCOLOGIST Grace Raja, M.D. and Mariann Harrington, M.D. >>
“At CARTI, we often say we are cancer-focused and patient-centered, and we mean it,” said Dr. Don Norwood, a diagnostic radiologist and medical director of imaging services. “Our team of medical experts are committed to delivering unparalleled care, including imaging, and leveraging leading-edge technology to serve patients.”
This apt description of CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock makes it easy to understand why the facility and three of its physicians have been singled out by readers of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in its 2023 Best of the Best competition.
CARTI received the Best Imaging Center title, Dr. Keith Mooney was selected Best Urologist, and Drs. Grace Raja and Marianne Harrington were named finalists for Best Oncologist.
“I am absolutely humbled to be selected,” Raja said. “It is a privilege to not only work with my partners at CARTI, but also the many amazing doctors we have here in Arkansas. It is an honor to be a part of this group.”
And it is a group with multiple attributes, including its multidisciplinary approach to cancer care and the many honors CARTI has garnered.
“CARTI is a not-for-profit, multidisciplinary cancer-care provider offering leading-edge medical, radiation and surgical oncology; interventional radiology; and an array of specialty services, including audiology, breast care, cancer genetics and risk management, dental care, imaging, and urology,” Harrington said.
“In our nearly 50-year history, we’ve topped the charts for our world-class care and received countless honors, including from patients, state organizations and within the medical field,” Norwood said.
Mooney called CARTI “the cancer-treatment destination in Arkansas. We offer a full range of treatment options, including our new, on-site surgery center.”
These options fulfill CARTI’s mission: “To make trusted cancer care accessible to every patient we serve through compassion, innovation and purpose,” Harrington said.
And Raja said part of that care is “CARTI’s Patient Assistance Program, supported by the CARTI Foundation, that provides comprehensive support services, such as transportation, lodging and meals, to reduce barriers to treatment.”
“CARTI has come a long way from our start …,” Harrington said. “Throughout it all, we’ve remained dedicated to serving patients … with innovation, compassion and purpose.”
“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to be a trusted resource and comfort for them during a time filled with uncertainty,” Mooney said.
