Say no to GFPB

- MIKE LANKFORD, PINE BLUFF

Editor, The Commercial: The Gov., who grew up in Pine Bluff and Texarkana, received an uproar over spending $19,000 for a podium(!!), which by the way, is over 90% of Pine Bluff’s per capita income. What da!! Oh, and it certainly hasn’t helped her decision making or personally, much else either.

Congratulations to PB for getting to support high school basketball with the renewed King Cotton Classic. Your tax dollars at work on almost every dollar spent in PB during the event.

However, what was GFPB head thinking when he so proudly spewed — and we’re proud there have been no incidents. Oh, we’re so proud! Was the incident(s) he was referring to, he had yet to whip someone’s a** or ….? Really?!! Come on man! Pine Bluff or not, this is all he could come up with?

Oh, and then we have some Nucholl head breaking things down on PB mayoral candidate’s use of syllables. Well, Socialist has 3 and Capitalist has 4. Are we confused yet?

Ever wonder why Pine Bluff, unlike others, doesn’t promote their monthly/quarterly sales tax revenue, employment rate or other economic indicators on a y/y or m/m basis? More secrecy maybe? Or maybe it doesn’t want to be known for spending more on the General Government than others of our size?

As we quickly step into November’s front door, the choice is soon ours on continuing the shadowy, present-day tax-and-spend ways of the special interest group, or let it be known that you want to decide how every cent of your hard earned dollars are spent in these inflationary times.

Tell the high-dollar, secrecy-ridden numbskulls you don’t mind seeing them getting in the unemployment line with those from the Go-Kart track. Much like all else GFPB does — All show and no dough.

Vote No! Against GFPB.
