On Tuesday, the 14th of November 2023, MAL G. MAY,

age 73, passed away peacefully at home among family. He was a Little Rock native and lifelong resident, born at St. Vincent’s Infirmary and a graduate of Little Rock Central High, class of 1968. He later went on to earn his BBA from UALR in 1985. Mal had a passion for games of chance and had the opportunity to participate in several Texas Hold’em tournaments. An avid fan of team sports, he enjoyed watching professional football and college basketball and even played softball for several years. His love of sports did not end there, though. As a golfer, he would go on to spend many hours on the fairway. Mal grew up hunting and fishing and, as a true Arkansan, caught many, many catfish in his lifetime. He had quite the green thumb and loved fresh vegetables from his garden. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals and rescued several wildlife throughout the years, as well as had a menagerie of pets, both traditional and not.

Mal had an admiration for movies his whole life and loved “going to the show,” as he would say. That same, almost childlike, enthusiasm was present for every holiday with his family. From chocolates on Valentine’s Day, to fireworks on the 4th of July, to gifts on Christmas, the joy he got from it was almost palpable, for him it truly was more about giving than receiving.

He was preceded in death by his parents, G. Wesley and V. Faye May, and brother, Wesley C. May. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa May, and children, Melanie May (Nathan Kimes), Juliette May Ault, and Alex May. He had five grandchildren, Dakota Booth, Skye Booth, Willow Booth, Annabelle Ault, and Alex Ault, and one great-grandson, Leon Partee.
