PREP BASKETBALL GIRLS GRAVETTE 65, WYANDOTTE, OKLA. 38

Gravette outscored Wyandotte 33-12 in the second half and turned Monday’s game at the Adair (Okla.) Tournament into a blowout.

The Lady Lions (5-3) owned a 30-24 halftime lead, but they went on a 17-6 run in the third quarter for a 47-30 cushion. Gravette then outscored Wyandotte 18-6 over the final 8 minutes.

DaLacie Wishon had 19 points to lead a trio of Lady Lions in double figures, followed by Alexa Parker wity 17 and Brooke Handle with 8.

Gravette will return to Adair for a semifinal game Friday.

OZARK CATHOLIC 48, ST. PAUL 13

Ozark Catholic limited St. Paul to five points over the final three quarters and handily won its 1A-1 West Conference opener Monday at St. Paul.

The Lady Griffins (8-9, 1-0) went on an 18-5 run in the second quarter and turned a one-point lead into a 27-12 halftime cushion, then followed that with a 15-0 tear in the third quarter for a 42-12 cushion.

Izzie Antony led Ozark Catholic with 15 points, followed by Clara Mariscotti with 13.

BOYS OZARK CATHOLIC 66, ST. PAUL 34

Shep Newcomb had 29 points as Ozark Catholic rolled past St. Paul to win its 1A-1 West Conference opener at St. Paul.

The Griffins (15-4, 1-0) took control of the game in the second quarter, when they outscored the Saints 21-9 and claimed a 34-22 halftime cushion. Ozark Catholic ran away with the game with a 28-7 outburst in the third quarter.

Hayden Johnson added 11 points for the Griffins. Jacob Brown had 17 points for St. Paul.

KINGSTON 65, BERRYVILLE 23

Four Kingston players scored in double figures as the Yellowjack­ets swarmed Berryville for a victory during the Green Forest Holiday Classic.

Kingston jumped out to a 19-9 lead after one quarter and led 38-19 at halftime, then held the Bobcats without a bucket throughout the entire second half.

Chism Floyd had 19 points to lead the Yellowjack­ets, followed by Colton Clemons with 13, Caleb Parker with 12 and Hunter Farrar with 11. Dale Nagtalon had 12 points for Berryville.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL JBU’s Stephens named SAC Player of the Week

Senior Tarrah Stephens averaged 20.3 points and 9.3 rebounds and led the John Brown University women’s basketball team to its first 3-0 start in league play in a decade and was named the Sooner Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning.
