82, of Newport, departed this life on December 6, 2023. He was born May 8, 1941, to Ervin Otto Hoffmeiste­r, Sr. and Edith Violet (Young) Hoffmeiste­r. Ervin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting deer and rabbit, as well as fishing. Family reunions held a special place in his heart, where laughter and shared memories created a tapestry of love. A proud member of the NRA, Ervin was known for his tinkering spirit, always eager to fix and improve things. His legacy is marked, not only by his skills, but also by the warmth and dedication he brought to every relationsh­ip. Though we mourn the loss of Ervin, we also celebrate the sixty years of marriage he shared with his beloved wife, Peggy. His daughter, Susan, and sister, Carol, carry the torch of his memory forward. Ervin Hoffmeiste­r, Jr. now rests in peace, surrounded by the love that defined his extraordin­ary life. Was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepfather, Gerald Grogean; his son, Ervin Hoffmeiste­r III.

Survived by his wife of sixty years, Peggy; daughter, Susan; and sister, Carol (Charles) Burgin; Ervin’s legacy is one of love, shared moments, and an enduring commitment to family. Today, we celebrate a life well-lived, rememberin­g Ervin for his warm spirit, dedication, and the joy he found in life’s humble pleasures. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
