JEANNETTE WRIGHT ATKINS,

-

89, of Little Rock, passed away Nov. 27, 2023. Jeanette was born Jan. 7, 1934, to Roy and Bertha Stockton Wright. She was raised in Springdale, Ark., and graduated from Springdale High School, where she made lifelong friendships, and was a proud Bulldog cheerleader.

Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who enriched many peoples lives with her quick wit and charm. She was married to her husband, John Atkins, for 62 years, when he passed in 2017. Throughout her lifetime, they lived together in Massachusetts and Texas, but Arkansas was always home and where she spent most of her life.

She made a big impact on her coworkers at Broadway School of Real Estate, but she is best known for her commitment to family. Always behind a camera to capture family moments, or in the kitchen making someone’s favorite meal, she was devoted to her family through and through.

Jeanette was also a loyal member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 50 years, always cherishing her Sunday school class, sermons, and Christmas and Independence Day programs. She was predeceased by her parents, Roy Wright and Bertha Wright; her siblings, Carryl Wright, Helen Armstrong, Virginia Porter, and Max Wright; and her husband, John Atkins. Jeanette is survived by her children, Sheree King, of North Little Rock, and John Edward (Jay) Atkins, of Little Rock; her two grandchildren and their spouses: John and Dr. Julianne Martin, and their daughter, Caroline (Cache), of Lonoke, Ark., and Christen and Chase Shaw, and their sons, Bear, Banks, and Beau, of Newnan, Ga.; many nieces, nephews, including Rev. Paul and Julie Atkins, Scott and Laura Wegener, Jackie Jackson, Carryl, Tommy, Derek, and Chip Wright.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel. Services will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Paul Atkins. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Missions Go Team or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at https://alzfdn.org/donate/. Online guestbook can be found at: www.smithfamilycares.com.
