MCKINNEY, Tex. — Surrounded with love, William “Bill” Younts,

fondly known to his grandchild­ren and many others as “Papa,” passed away Nov. 4, 2023, at the age of 87 in Dallas, Tex. He was born Nov. 11, 1935, in Little Rock, Ark. to William Calhoun Younts and Helen Elizabeth (Crockett) Younts.

He graduated from North Little Rock High School and began his 28-year service as a police officer in 1957. His leadership in his community was admired by all, and he went on to become Chief of Police in North Little Rock, Ark. for 10 years before he retired.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock, Ark., Saint Gabriel the Archangel Church in McKinney, Tex., and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus in which he continued to care for the community and shared his leadership skills with many others.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ruth Younts. Their beautiful marriage of 64 years has left a lasting imprint on the hearts of everyone that knew them. Together they shared their love for gardening, traveling with family, attending social events and parties, and playing with their 4 great-grandchild­ren.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Hebert and husband, Walter; son, David Younts and wife, Darlene; grandchild­ren, Lauren Clements and husband, Mike, Johanna Rippy and husband, Patrick, Amanda Younts, Corey Hebert, and Amber Hebert; great grandchild­ren, Sage, Weston, Logan, and Katherine; brother, Jimmy Younts and wife, Dee; brother, Tommy Younts and numerous cousins.

Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Younts; brother, Bobby Younts and sister, Nancy Halter.

A special thanks to his caregivers and therapists, who provided care for Bill in his last years.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church 1001 N. Tyler Street, Little Rock, Ark. Visitation and brunch on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m. also at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Parish Hall, then Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon.
