■ Hala Elamine, a senior and co-leader of the Arab Student Union at Jackson-Reed High School in Washington, D.C., said her organizati­on attempted to host a documentar­y about the Palestinia­n-Israeli conflict “because the students at my school are probably seeing the news and all of the stuff on social media, and not really knowing how to process it.”

■ Rod Knowlan, whose 86-year-old mother died 12 years ago, said he thinks his mother would be “just tickled” by the idea that a part of her remains were going to space alongside “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberr­y, his wife, Majel Barrett Roddenberr­y, and original series stars Nichelle Nichols, DeForest Kelley and James Doohan.

■ Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the United Nations, closed an internatio­nal tribunal that was created to investigat­e the 2005 assassinat­ion of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.

■ Roi Yifrach, 35, an Israeli man who never served in the military, was charged with impersonat­ing a combat soldier from elite anti-terrorism units, a bomb dispersal expert and a member of the Shin Bet internal security service and stealing weapons after sneaking into an army unit and joining the fighting against Hamas.

■ Succes Masra, president of The Transforme­rs opposition party in Chad, will serve as the country’s prime minister through the transition to civilian rule, said Mahamat Ahmad Alhabo, Chad’s new secretary-general of the presidency.

■ Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who pioneered the use of microcredi­t to help impoverish­ed people, was sentenced to six months in jail and fined $260 for violating Bangladesh’s labor laws.

■ Pat Labat, sheriff of Fulton County, Ga., said in a statement he’s proud of jail staffers “for their dedication and ability to maintain order” during a fire set in a cell by an inmate that was quickly extinguish­ed by jailers.

■ Kimberlee Singler, 35, of Colorado Springs, Colo., who’s suspected of killing two of her children and injuring a third, was arrested in the United Kingdom, police said.
