BENTON — Alice Ann Doolin Adcock,

-

of Benton, Ark. was born February 9, 1939, in McGehee, Ark. After marrying the love of her life, Loral “Popeye” Adcock, she resided in Dumas Arkansas for 60 years before moving to Benton in 2017. Ann had a passion for serving others that started at a young age as she helped her mother cook and clean for her family. After marrying Popeye on April 24, 1959, she welcomed the role of homemaker and, eventually, the mother of four children. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, “granny,” and friend to many. She was an accomplished cook and organizer of events. Her pies and cakes were worth their weight in gold at local charitable auctions and fundraisers. With a servant’s heart and a concern for the well being of all, she used her talents to bless others in times of celebration and in times of illness or tragedy.

Ann was a faithful follower of our Lord, Jesus Christ. While in Dumas, she was a very active member of the FUMC of Dumas where she served on the Administration Board, Staff-Parish Relations Committee, Chairperson of the DMA Senior Citizens which was well attended by many in the community, Chairperson of the Bereavement Committee, Chairperson of the Kitchen Committee, Secretary of Circle V and was a member of the Susanna Wesley Class. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the Desha County Museum Society and the Walnut Lake Cemetery Association Board, and a member of the Dumas Chamber of Commerce. In 2012 she was honored with the distinction of Ding Dong Mama from Dumas. Her love of others led her to be a regular contributor and helper of events for organizations, particularly the Jodie Partridge Center.

After moving to Benton, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Watching game shows, Hallmark movies, and playing Gin Rummy were favorite activities when she wasn’t encouraging and communicating with friends by phone or Facebook. After years of weekly competitions, her children crowned her the “Gin Rummy Queen.” Ann’s faithful life and legacy will live on in her family that loved her dearly. And, her recipes in countless kitchens and cookbooks will serve as reminders to many friends of her love and joy in helping all she knew.

Ann is preceded in death by Loral M. Adcock (“Popeye”) who passed on October 11, 1994; her parents C.E. and Fern Brading Doolin; Brothers Cecil Doolin and Gene Doolin; and her sister, Lorene Cobb. She is survived by four children, Cindy Reynolds of Texarkana, Texas; Ashton Adcock (Madeline) of Benton, Ark.; Lori McGhee (Bill) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and Ross Adcock of Benton Ark.; Six grandchildren, Brooke Marshall (Todd), Patrick Reynolds, Ross Ragsdale, Lawson Adcock, Tiffany Cranford (Shawn) and Kristin Kuhn; Five great-grandchildren, John and Luke Marshall, Josh and Emma Cranford and Ryder Kuhn; and one brother, Tommy Doolin (Mary).
