SUN BELT WOMEN ARKANSAS STATE 73, TEXAS STATE 48

Izzy Higginbott­om scored a gamehigh 33 points as Arkansas State defeated Texas State on Thursday night at the First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Higginbott­om shot 13 of 15 from the field and knocked down all four of her attempts from three-point range. The junior from Batesville also dished out a team-high five assists.

Mailyn Wilkerson and Anna Griffin each had 11 points for Arkansas State (8-6, 2-2 Sun Belt Conference). Cheyenne Forney scored nine points on 4-of-4 shooting to go with eight rebounds for the Red Wolves.

Texas State (10-6, 1-3) was led by Jaylin Foster, who accounted for more than 50% of the scoring for the Bobcats with 25 points. She was 8 of 8 from the field and 6 of 6 from the freethrow line. Foster also knocked down three shots from behind the arc and collected four rebounds.

ASUN MEN EASTERN KENTUCKY 86, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 63

The University of Central Arkansas dropped to 1-1 in ASUN play and 5-13 overall with a loss to Eastern Kentucky on Thursday night at the Farris Center in Conway.

The Colonels (7-9, 3-0) controlled things in the first half. Eastern Kentucky outscored UCA 42-25 thanks to 10 points by Devontae Blanton, nine points by Michael Moreno and eight points by Isaiah Cozart.

UCA was led by freshman Tucker Anderson (15 points), junior Elias Cato (15) and sophomore Carl Daughtery Jr. (13).

Eastern Kentucky was led Moreno (20) and Cozart (17). The Colonels shot 50% from the field compared to UCA’s 32.7% shooting.

Former UCA guard and Fayettevil­le native Collin Cooper scored nine points for Eastern Kentucky in his return to Conway.

SUN BELT MEN ARKANSAS STATE 85, TEXAS STATE 82

Caleb Fields scored a season-high 35 points and dished out 10 assists as Arkansas State slipped by Texas State on Thursday night at the First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Fields shot 9 of 17 from the field and also converted on 16 of 20 attempts from the free-throw line. Izaiyah Nelson also had 12 points and 11 rebounds for ASU (7-9, 3-1 Sun Belt Conference).

Arkansas State forward Dyondre Dominguez scored 16 points, finishing 6 of 6 from the field. Derrian Ford added 11 points.

Texas State (6-10, 0-4) was paced by Brandon Love, who finished with 19 points and six rebounds. Dylan Dawson and Coleton Benson added 16 and 15 points, respective­ly, for the Bobcats.
