Marvin Roy Doss, Jr.

-

Marvin Roy Doss, Jr., was born December 26, 1937, in Warren, Ark., to Marvin and Nellie Marie St. John Doss. He was a 1956 graduate of Pine Bluff High School where he played on the football team.

Following graduation, he immediately began working for Dierks Forest, Inc. paper mill and remained there through all of the changes over the years, retiring from Gaylord in 2003. He served as Treasurer and later President of the local Union. Marvin loved woodworking, camping and fishing at Lake Ouachita, watching old Westerns and especially loved country dancing.

Life, however, would come to a standstill if the Arkansas Razorbacks were playing. He wouldn’t go out to eat and don’t even try to call him during the game! He will be remembered by his family as a really good man who was kind, caring, and patient. Most of all, he was a Christian who was a faithful member of Hwy. 79 Church of Christ.

Marvin passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Harold Rex Doss, Mary Stratton, Nell Williams, Bennie Jean Ferrell, Tommy Doss, and Donald Doss; his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara Ann Williams Doss; and his second wife, Harriet Sue Chandler Doss. He was a devoted caregiver to both his wives during all their illnesses until the end.

He was dearly loved by his three daughters, Lisa Wilson (David), Misty Lynn Wall (Harold), and Kelly Womack (Ron), whom he frequently went with on vacation; seven grandchildren, Rhen Wilson (Rachel), Cambell Wilson, Madison Sharp (Josh), Kaden Wall, Alex Bray Taylor, Addison Womack, and Lee Womack; three great-grandchildren, Westley Wilson, Rory Wilson, and Ethan Womack; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He also leaves behind his dog and cat, Java and Smokey, whom he loved.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with funeral services following at 2 p.m., with Mr. Clarence Fell officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a contribution to Hwy. 79 Church of Christ, 4341 South Camden Road, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71603, or to the American Heart Association online at www.heart.org.
