Blues by Budweiser concert series to feature Billy Jeter band at RJ’s

-

The Blues by Budweiser concert series will feature Billy Jeter & The Shine Eye Blues Band at 8 p.m. Feb. 3 at RJ’s Grill & Bar, 128 S. Main St. The doors will open at 7 p.m.

Port City Blues Society members are admitted free and admission is $5 for others. The concert series is being sponsored by MK Distributors, according to a news release.

Jeter will be joined during the performance by Jason Lee Hale (lead guitar), Darius Blanton (keys), RJ Looney (harp), Lynn Fitzgerald (bass) and Pat Lindsey (drums.)

Born in Jefferson County in 1955, Jeter is a native to Delta Roots music. Although he became influenced at an early age, his song writing began later in life.

“With his talent as a distinguished storyteller and a life-long love of music, Billy Jeter’s evolution into a talented singer, songwriter and musician was a natural progression. Through endless hours of listening, he adopted a style of playing and song writing that was unique to the southern soil from which he was forged,” according to the release.

“Once Jeter began writing, the songs started to flow like the Mississippi River during the rainy season. The strength of his stories, colorful characters and references to real events, establishes Billy Jeter as a master storyteller, historian and songwriter who uses music as the canvas for his artistry,” according to the release.

Jeter has released five full length albums: Minstrels, Misfits & Melodies (2016), Song Dog Blues (2018), House on Fire (2019), Shine Eye Landing (2021) and Hysteria (2023).

Hysteria has remained on the Roots Music Report national charts since July 2023 and has reached as high as number 11 for seven weeks. The album is also currently the number one album on the all genre Arkansas chart by Roots Music Report. A new album, Delta Traces is also in the works.
