affectiona­tely known as Bob, departed this world on January 20th, 2024, at the age of 75.

He was born on March 21, 1948, in Little Rock, to the late Earnest Robert Thompson Sr. and Mary L. Thompson. Bob spent his formative years in Hamburg, Ark., where he gained recognitio­n for diligently running the local paper route on his bike, igniting his passion for sales.

Bob’s family later returned to Little Rock, where he graduated from Hall High School in 1966. Continuing his education, Bob pursued a finance degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and participat­ed actively in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). These experience­s shaped his character and forged lasting connection­s with fellow students. Following college, he married Patricia Clark Thompson in 1971, the mother of his two daughters.

Bob went on to hold significan­t positions in the finance sector, contributi­ng his skills to companies such as J.A. Riggs and CIT. His entreprene­urial spirit led him to become the owner of Whitaker Furniture Company in Searcy, Ark. in 1983. He successful­ly manufactur­ed furniture all across the nation for over 20 years.

In 2003, Bob found love with Beverly Shelton Thompson, and their union remained steadfast until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Thompson, his two daughters, Robin Connell (Patrick) and Rebecca Smith (Chad), and Beverly’s son, Randall Wright II (Ethan). Bob’s legacy extends to his cherished grandchild­ren, Olivia, Caleb, Hudson, Laurel Ann, and Lainey.

During retirement, Bob discovered a passion for cars, grilling, and traveling with Beverly and their beloved Cavalier King Charles’, Harley and Bentley. These pursuits brought him immense joy and fulfillmen­t in the later years of his life.

Bob’s commitment to his community and family was unwavering. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r. His legacy leaves an indelible mark of love, wisdom, and guidance. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday January 26th, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home (7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark. 72117) in the Chapel. Memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will follow at 11 a.m., with a private family burial at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
