63, of Benton, Ark., was born to the late Tommy Nelson and Lola Mae (Hester) Nelson, on Friday, September 9th, 1960, in Benton,

Ark. She left this world on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, surrounded by love. Her family was everything to her, especially her kids and grandchild­ren. They meant the world to her. Barbara was such a caring and generous person who loved taking care of others. It gave her a sense of purpose in this life. Barbara enjoyed traveling and being at casinos. She also loved being in the hot tub or laying out by the pool soaking up the sun. Basically, anywhere that had a large body of water, she was there!

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 26 years, Ed Casteel; two sisters, Sue Theel and Linda Clark; and three brothers, John Nelson, Louis Nelson, and Pete Nelson.

She is survived by her three sons, Eddie Casteel (Kathy), Jeff York (Jennifer), and Paul York (Heather); daughter, Jessie York; 12 grandchild­ren, Tara Freiburger, Amanda Casteel, Nicki Watkins, Ashley Warner, Cole York, Garrett York, Hunter Casteel, Matt Casteel, Jaycee York, Jarad York, Kayla Warner, and Beth Weatherly; eight great-grandchild­ren; three brothers, William, Dave, and George Nelson; life long best friend, Kelli Orr; along with many other family and friends who all love her and will miss her dearly.

Barbara’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. and her celebratio­n of life will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home then burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark.

Pallbearer­s include Scott Clay, John Busch, Chris Nelson, Corey Nelson, Doug Theel, and Bobby Theel.
