In 1941, Emily married Carlton Taylor, and they made their home in Pine Bluff. They remained married for 46 years until Carlton’s passing in 1986.

Emily retired in 1986 and relocated her home to Rison in 1999. In her retirement, Emily was an active volunteer. Her life was the embodiment of Christ’s teachings on love and compassion, and exemplified the admonition, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these…you did for me.”
