SPRINGDALE — Wanda Jean Griffin

passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Springdale, Ark. She was born on February 29, 1932, in Howard County, Arkansas to the late Curtis Epton Nutt and Mable (Sutton) Nutt.

Wanda married Howard Griffin on June 25, 1954, in Mineral Springs, Ark. She worked at Dorman Clinic as a secretary. Wanda cherished her family above all else. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, together creating countless memories filled with

good food, laughter, and shared stories. Wanda had a passion for the power of music which she passed from generation to generation. Through vibrant melodies of gospel music, she found a source of solace and connection to her faith. Wanda was a member of the Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale for over 62 years. Howard and Wanda led the young married class for over 20 years and Wanda sang in the choir for over 48 years. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Nutt and Helen Floyd; brother, Sonny Nutt and his wife Shirley Nutt; and brother-in-law, David Harrington.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Howard Griffin; three children, Dennis Howard Griffin and his wife Brooke of Springdale, Ark., Terry Griffin Peeples and her husband Daryl of North Little Rock, Ark. and Mitchell Grant Griffin and his wife Tammy of Springdale, Ark.; Six grandchild­ren, Amanda Brooke Tippet and her husband Michael, Abbie Blake Dunlap and her husband Tyler, Austin Griffin, Griffin Paul Peeples and his wife Estefanie, Sutton Dean Griffin and Holden Grant Griffin; great-grandchild­ren, Loula Faith Dunlap, Lila Faye Dunlap and Ryan Brooke Tippet; two sisters, Linda Hosey and husband Jim and Tina Harrington; brother-in-law, John Floyd and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Elmdale Baptist Church of Springdale. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. that same day with Pastor Billy Chidester officiatin­g. Interment to follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, Ark. In lieu of flowers,donations can be made to the Wanda and Howard Griffin Scholarshi­p at Ouachita Baptist University, 410 Ouachita Street, Box 3754, Arkadelphi­a, Ark. 71998 or at obu.edu/ give with a notation for the “Wanda and Howard Griffin Scholarshi­p.” Wanda was very proud that all three of her children earned adegree from Ouachita, as well as multiple other family members.
