ASUN MEN CENTRAL ARKANSAS 79, NORTH FLORIDA 77

The University of Central Arkansas overcame a four-point halftime deficit to defeat North Florida and snap its threegame losing streak.

UCA (9-18, 5-6 ASUN) shot 58.1% from the field in the first half, but North Florida (13-13, 6-5) hit eight three-pointers and nine free throws to take a 45-41 advantage into halftime.

The Bears outscored the Ospreys 38-32 in the second half, including the first nine points out of the break, to clinch the win.

Masai Olowokere and Elias Cato led UCA with 14 points each. Tucker Anderson (12), Ubong Abasi Etim (10) and Javion Guy-King (10) all reached double figures as well.

SWAC MEN ALCORN STATE 68, UAPB 56

An 8-0 run midway through the second half allowed Alcorn State to create some separation and pounce away from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff.

Jeremiah Kendall had 16 points and seven rebounds for Alcorn State (6-17, 5-5 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference), which had lost its previous two games.

Alcorn State led 43-41 in the second half before a free throw by Kendall with 12:05 left in the game started its eight-point run that increased its lead to 51-41. The Braves never allowed UAPB (10-13, 5-5) to get closer than five points over the final 10 minutes.

Jeremiah Gambrell scored 13 points and Dekedron Thorn added 11 points. Kylen Milton led the Golden Lions with 19 points.

SUN BELT WOMEN ARKANSAS STATE 81, AKRON 67

Arkansas State shot 53.3% (32 of 60) from the field as a team as it traveled to Akron and picked up a road win in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge on Saturday afternoon at James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron, Ohio.

Izzy Higginbott­om scored a game-high 25 points and dished out six assists for Arkansas State (13-10). Lauryn Pendleton finished with 20 points and collected six rebounds, while Anna Griffin added 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field for the Red Wolves.

SUN BELT MEN ARKANSAS STATE 100, OHIO 87

Arkansas State topped 100 points for the third time this season as it took down Ohio 100-87 on Saturday in a nonconfere­nce game at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Five players scored in double figures for Arkansas State (11-14) as the team shot 63.8% (37 of 58) from the field and 50% (11 of 22) from three-point range. Taryn Todd led the Red Wolves with 20 points off the bench.

Derrian Ford scored 19 points and Izaiyah Nelson had 17 in the win. Dyondre Dominguez made four three-pointers and finished with 16 points, while Julian Lual added 11 off the bench for the Red Wolves.

Jaylin Hunter led Ohio (14-11) with 20 points and AJay Sheldon finished with 17 points, hitting 5 of 8 three-pointers.

AJ Clayton scored 13 points, Miles Brown finished with 11 and Aiden Hadaway added 10 for the Bobcats.

SWAC WOMEN UAPB 80, ALCORN STATE 57

Zay Green had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals for the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which overwhelme­d Alcorn State over the second and third quarters to cruise at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff.

The Golden Lions led 17-16 after one quarter but outscored the Braves 4422 over the next two quarters to break things open. The Braves committed 14 turnovers during that stretch that put them into an even deeper hole.

Maya Peat also had 12 points and Coriah Beck added 11 points for UAPB (13-10, 8-2 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference), which has won five consecutiv­e games. The Golden Lions held a 44-33 rebounding edge, got 26 points from their reserves and had 28 points off 25 turnovers.

ASUN WOMEN STETSON 57, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 56

The University of Central Arkansas lost back-to-back games with a narrow defeat to Stetson on Saturday afternoon at the Edmunds Center in DeLand, Fla.

With 29 seconds remaining, Leah Mafua’s layup brought UCA (16-8, 8-3 ASUN) within one point of Stetson (1312, 8-3), drawing a foul on the shot. But she missed the free throw to keep the Sugar Bears down 57-56. UCA was unable to attempt another shot.

UCA recovered from a 16-7 first-quarter deficit and entered the fourth quarter tied at 36-36.

Bree Stephens led UCA with a career-high 16 points. Kinley Fisher (13) and Cheyenne Banks (10) both reached double figures as well.
