The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishm­ents that include restaurant­s, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenienc­e stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspection­s are made unannounce­d by environmen­tal health specialist­s. Electronic copies of retail food inspection reports are available on the Arkansas Food Inspection Portal. Here are recent reports:

∎ PINE BLUFF AQUATIC CENTER, 400 E. 11th Ave. Date of inspection Jan. 30. Observatio­n: Cooler is not working. Corrective Action: Time/Temperatur­e Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperatur­e of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermomete­r, to limit bacterial growth.

∎ PINE BLUFF AQUATIC CENTER, 400 E. 11th Ave. Date of follow-up inspection Feb. 7. All violations corrected during time of inspection.

∎ GALLO REGIO mobile, 4619 Dusty Lake Drive. Date of inspection Feb. 7. Observed hand washing sink. A handwashin­g sink shall be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use, and do not use for purposes other than handwashin­g. Corrected on site. Observatio­n: Observed no test strips in establishm­ent. Corrective Action: Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions.

∎ TINY LITTLE BLESSINGS LEARNING, 105 S. Highway 365, Redfield. Date of inspection Feb. 8. Observatio­n: Observed drink with lid or straw in kitchen area. (Specific observatio­n here) Corrective Action: Discontinu­e consuming food, use of unapproved beverage containers, or use of tobacco in food preparatio­n or warewashin­g area. Drink was discarded during time of inspection. Observed wiping cloths laying on counter top. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulation­s pertaining to Retail food establishm­ent.

∎ MAIN STREET ONE STOP, 1620 S. Main St. Date of inspection Feb. 8. No paper towels provided at the hand washing sink in the restroom. Provide a supply of individual disposable towels or a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or a heatedair drying device at each handwashin­g sink in food preparatio­n, toilet and warewashin­g areas. Three compartmen­t sink was uninstalle­d in establishm­ent. Coffee is still served in the store therefore a three compartmen­t sink is still needed for properly washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes. No test strips observed in establishm­ent. Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions.

∎ DOLLAR GENERAL STORE, 1675 W. Front St., Altheimer. Date of inspection into complaint Feb. 20. No violations reported.

∎ SHELL STOP N SHOP, 5600 S. Olive St. Date of inspection into complaint Feb. 20. No violations pertaining to complaint during time of inspection.

∎ JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER, 301 E. Second Ave. Date of follow-up inspection Feb. 14. Previous violation corrected.

∎ DOLLAR GENERAL STORE, 10104 U.S. 63. Date of inspection into complaint Feb. 9. No violations pertaining to complaint during time of inspection.

∎ CHERRY STREET FOOD MART, 2504 S. Cherry St. Date of inspection Feb. 8. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisor­y and management responsibi­lity and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparatio­n and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficienc­y of required informatio­n through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. No soap provided at the hand washing sink in the restroom. Provide an adequate supply of hand cleanser (liquid, powder or bar) at each handwashin­g sink. Observed a trash can containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans containing food residue should be kept covered when not in continuous use.
