OHIO VALLEY WOMEN

LINDENWOOD 61, ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK 54

Arkansas-Little Rock fell from a tie for third place in the Ohio Valley Conference all the way down to sixth place in the standings Saturday afternoon after suffering a loss at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo.

UALR (10-17, 9-7 Ohio Valley) turned the ball over 20 times and converted on just 46.2% (12 of 26) of its free-throw attempts.

Jordan Holman led the Trojans in scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 17 points and pulling down seven rebounds off the bench.

Lindenwood (7-19, 5-11) snapped its four-game losing streak with the win. Justis Odom scored a gamehigh 24 points to go along with six rebounds.

Odom knocked down 14 of 16 shots from the free-throw line in the game. Mykayla Cunningham finished with 13 points and Makayla Wallace chipped in 10 for the Lions.

ASUN WOMEN

LIPSCOMB 65, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 59

The University of Central Arkansas fought back from as large as a 17-point deficit to draw within one score, but Lipscomb did just enough to maintain its lead to win Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

After a seven-point second quarter and a third quarter where Lipscomb (16-11, 9-5 ASUN) outscored it 3014, UCA (18-10, 10-5) won the fourth quarter 20-9.

In the first and third quarters, the Sugar Bears allowed 50 points on 45.7% shooting from the field.

In the second and fourth quarters, they held Lipscomb to 15 points on 20% shooting.

UCA entered the fourth quarter down 17 points. Behind a 12-0 run to start the fourth and an 8-0 run shortly thereafter, the Sugar Bears cut that lead to two points with 2:08 remaining before missing four of its final five shots.

Randrea Wright led the Sugar Bears with 16 points, followed by Leah Mafua and Jade Usphaw with 12 points each.

Blythe Pearson led the Bisons with 17, followed by Alex Sorrentino (13) and Claira McGowan (11).

SWAC WOMEN

PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 66, UAPB 57

Kayla Smith came off the bench to score 20 points and spur Prairie View A&M (10-14, 6-8 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference) to a significan­t road victory over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff.

Ryann Payne added nine points for the Panthers, who strolled out to a 32-24 lead at halftime. UAPB used a strong third quarter to close its gap to 46-44 and later tied the game at 49-49 with 7:54 to go in the game following a layup from Kourtney Rittenberr­y. But Prairie View A&M went on a 10-1 run after Rittenberr­y’s basket to regain control and eventually walked away with a win.

Maya Peat finished with 14 points and Coriah Back had 12 points for UAPB (14-13, 9-5), which played without leading scorer Zaay Green and fellow starter Jelissa Reese.

Rittenberr­y ended with 10 points. The loss was also the third in the last four games for the Golden Lions.

SUN BELT WOMEN

SOUTHERN MISS 70, ARKANSAS STATE 59

Arkansas State fell behind early and was never able to recover as it dropped its fourth consecutiv­e game against Southern Miss on Saturday afternoon at the First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Domonique Davis scored a gamehigh 19 points to lead Southern Miss (16-11, 9-7 Sun Belt). Jacorriah Bracey finished with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.

Morgan Sieper and Melyia Grayson added 12 and 11 points, respective­ly, for the Golden Eagles.

Arkansas State (13-14, 6-10) was without guard Izzy Higginbott­om, who is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a finger injury. Lauryn Pendleton scored a team-high 18 points to pace the Red Wolves, while Anna Griffin finished with 14 points and 5 rebounds.

ASUN MEN

EASTERN KENTUCKY 95, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 82

The University of Central Arkansas dropped its penultimat­e game Saturday afternoon against conference leader Eastern Kentucky at Alumni Coliseum in Richmond, Ky.

Eastern Kentucky (17-11, 12-2 ASUN) set the tone early with a 13-2 run five minutes into the game to take a 17-6 lead.

UCA (9-22, 5-10) trailed by double digits for the next 14 minutes before cutting it down to 47-40 at halftime with a 9-2 run over the final 1:21 of the first half.

The second half was much of the same as Eastern Kentucky’s lead hovered around 10 points throughout.

Carl Daughtery Jr. led UCA with 20 points. Elias Cato (19) and Tucker Anderson (18) hit 3 three-pointers each to reach double figures.

Four Colonels hit double figures, led by Isaiah Cozart and Tayshawn Comer with 22 points each.

SUN BELT MEN

ARKANSAS STATE 95, SOUTH ALABAMA 78

Arkansas State shot 52.3% from the field and knocked down 12 three-pointers as the team extended its winning streak to a season-best five games Saturday afternoon with a convincing victory over South Alabama at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State (15-14, 10-6 Sun Belt) was led by Derrian Ford, who shot 6 of 10 from three-point range and scored a team-high 23 points in the win. Freddy Hicks III finished with 14 points and Julian Lual scored 13 off the bench. Taryn Todd added 11 points and Caleb Fields recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists for the Red Wolves.

South Alabama (14-15, 6-10) was paced by Samuel Tabe and Marcus Millender, who each finished with 27 points. The 54 points scored between the two players accounted for 64% of the offensive production for the Jaguars.

OHIO VALLEY MEN

ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK 82, LINDENWOOD 73

Makhel Mitchell scored 21 points and collected 14 rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench as Arkansas-Little Rock edged Lindenwood to pick up its seventh consecutiv­e victory Saturday afternoon at the Robert F. Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

UALR (18-11, 12-4 Ohio Valley) shot 62.2% (28 of 45) from the field and outrebound­ed the Lions 40-24 in the contest. Khalen Robinson converted on 10 of 12 shots from the free-throw line and finished with 19 points. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson made 5 of 6 shots from the field and scored 13 points, while Jamir Chaplin added 10 for the Trojans.

Lindenwood (8-21, 2-14) dropped its seventh consecutiv­e game with the loss. Keith Haymon II scored a team-high 18 points and Darius Beane finished with 17 to lead the Lions. Keenon Cole scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds while Nathan Johnson Jr. chipped in 10 points off the bench.

SWAC MEN

UAPB 72, PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 59

Ismael Plet and Kylen Milton both recorded double-doubles for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as it outclassed its long-time foe at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff.

Plet finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Milton had 12 points and 11 rebounds for UAPB (12-15, 7-7 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference), which never trailed and led by as much as 54-34 early in the second half.

Prairie View A&M (10-17, 5-9) zoomed back to cut its deficit to 6052 with just under six minutes to go in the game following a three-pointer from Brian Myles, but the Golden Lions wouldn’t allow that margin to shrink any further.

Rashad Williams scored 13 points, Lonnell Martin Jr. had 12 points, and Joe French tossed in 11 points for the Golden Lions, who had lost 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Panthers.

Charles Lane Jr. led Prairie View A&M with 24 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists. Miles, along with Javontae Hopkins, added 12 points apiece.
