ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK 5, BELMONT 3 (14)

Arkansas-Little Rock catcher Jake Wright’s first hit of the game broke a 3-3 tie in the 14th before Alex Seguine added an insurance run to secure a win over Belmont on Saturday at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville, Tenn.

Seguine, who also hit an RBI double in the fifth inning, and Noah Brewer led the Trojans with two RBI each. Brewer’s two-run double gave UALR a 2-1 after Max Jones opened the scoring for Belmont with a one-run single.

Mason Landers pulled the Bruins within 3-2 with an RBI double, and Brodey Heaton forced extra innings with a solo home run in the ninth inning.

UALR starter Hoss Brewer gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 6 across 6 innings. Hunter Royal picked up the win for the Trojans for tossing 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief to close out the game. Dominic Baratta took the loss for Belmont after giving up UALR’s two runs in the 14th.

ARKANSAS STATE 14, MISSOURI STATE 12

The Red Wolves set up today’ rubber match with the Bears in a high-scoring victory Saturday at Hammons Field in Springfiel­d, Mo.

Missouri State jumped out to a 9-2 lead through three innings, including three-run home runs by Tyler Epstein in the second and Jahlani Rogers in the third. Epstein and Rogers led the Bears in RBI with four and three, respective­ly.

After going down early, the Red Wolves rattled off 12 unanswered runs — 6 in the fourth and 6 in the fifth — to take a 14-9 lead. Arkansas State managed just 10 hits, but Missouri State gave up 11 walks and 4 errors to open the door. Just 8 of ASU’s 14 runs were earned.

Wil French and Blake Burris had two runs and two RBI each to lead the Red Wolves.

Missouri State scored 3 runs in the ninth inning — 2 on a dropped fly ball and 1 on Epstein’s drawn walk — but Collin Maloney entered to pick up the final out and recorded the save.

ASU reliever Hunter Draper picked up the win, giving up the 3 unearned runs, 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5 across 5 2/3 innings. Starter Arlon Butts gave up the 9-run onslaught on 7 hits and 2 walks with no strikeouts.

Eric Loomis took the loss, giving up 3 runs on 1 hit and 2 walks with no strikeouts in just 1/3 inning. Starter Brendan Beaver was pulled after giving up 8 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

CENTRAL ARKANSAS 5-4, TARLETON STATE 3-6

The University of Central Arkansas split its doublehead­er with Tarleton State on Saturday.

In the first game, UCA (7-5) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Drew Sturgeon home run to right field. Tanner Leonard hit a solo home run in the fifth inning as one of his two hits.

Coleman MacRae (1-1) allowed 3 runs in 5 1/3 innings on 2 hits and 3 walks. In the second game, UCA jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Jagger Schattle’s sacrifice fly was followed by RBI singles from Sturgeon and Bryce Cermenelli.

Cermenelli drove in another run in the fifth inning with a single to center field to make it 4-0.

Tarleton State (8-4) scored one run in the seventh and eight innings to cut the lead in half before scoring four runs in the ninth inning on a Tyson Drake double, a wild pitch and a Cole Miears single to win.
