JAMES MATTHEW GREENE Sr.,

age 86, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away, Monday, March 4, 2024. He was born June 19, 1937, in Montgomery, Ala., the son of Bera and Cora Greene. During high school, the family moved to North Little Rock, Ark. He graduated in 1955 from North Little Rock High.

After high school, he joined the Air National Guard.

During this time he met his wife and love of his life, Shelba Jean Greene.

Throughout his career you would hear him say, Jean was his most valuable business partner. In 1960 he made a career change to insurance. He and Jean were very involved in church and in the Gideons. Jim and Jean were partners in every way. They started several businesses including furniture, manufactur­ing, real estate, and insurance. Jim always acknowledg­ed Jean’s part in the success of the businesses. Throughout the years, Jim always made time to serve his calling in missions and ministry.

Jim and Jean enjoyed traveling and seeing the many wonders of God’s creation. They enjoyed a month shy of 63 years of marriage.

Jim is survived by his four children and their spouses, 11 grandchild­ren, and 11 great-grandchild­ren. Their children are LaJuana (Ed) Oswalt of North Little Rock, Ark.; Matthew (Debbie) Greene of Ft. Worth, Texas; ReNata (Keith) Bauder of Lorton, Va.; DeAwna (Jeff) Brantly of Little Rock, Ark.

Grandchild­ren include Nicholas Greene, Meghan (Coty) Skinner, William (Melissa) Bauder, Natalie (Brian) Taylor, Joshua (Angela) Bauder, Daniel (Bethany) Oswalt, Caitlin (Nathan Harris) Oswalt, Aron (Stephanie) Bauder, Jeffrey (Kathryn) Brantly, James Brantly, and Jessica Brantly.

Great-grandchild­ren include Charlotte, Abby, Levi, Grace, Theo, Ruby, Becca, Lillian, Oliver, Jude, and Pearson.

He is also survived by his second wife of 1 1/2 years, Theresa Tull Shillcutt Greene, of Little Rock, Ark.

There will be a private family graveside service in Fitch Cemetery, near Casa, Ark., at a later date.
