HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — On March 2nd 2024, Caryl Joy Young

died in Hot Springs, Ark., following a brief illness.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Terry Young of Hot Springs Village; daughter, Teri

Lindsey (John) of Lynchburg, Va.; and son, Todd Young (Cindy) of Denver, Colo. She has one sister, Cherry Lloyd (Jimmy) of Texarkana, Texas. Caryl Joy and Terry are blessed with four grandchild­ren, Brittany, Nicole, Maggie, Jack; and five great-grandchild­ren, Zac, Carter, Jayde, June, Eleanor.

Born in 1942, Caryl Joy grew up in Hope. Ark. She graduated from Ouachita Baptist College with a degree in education and later earned a masters degree in education as well. She taught in the Jefferson County area for 30 years including her children’s school, Pine Bluff High — go Zebras! Caryl Joy expected a lot of her students and cared deeply about their success.

Caryl Joy endeavored to see the world and accomplish­ed this through leading trips all over the world with EF Tours. She was able to travel to countless countries and visited every continent except Antarctica.

Always a creative person, retirement brought a move to Hot Springs Village and a second career in the arts. Caryl Joy was a talented artist and was prolific in painting beautiful landscapes from all over the country, especially her beloved Arkansas. She exhibited and sold her art at several downtown Hot Springs galleries and was part of the Monday Studio Artists as well as the Artist Workshop Gallery.

Visitation will be at Gross Funeral Home at 120 Wrights Lane in Hot Springs Thursday March 7th from 5-7 p.m. The funeral will be held at Christ of the Hills United Methodist, 700 Balearic Road in Hot Springs Village Friday, March 8th, at 10 a.m.

Memorials can be made to Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church or Arkansas Food Bank.
