Pitts to perform in PB
Chris Pitts will be featured at the Catfish Friday Blues & Soul Night monthly series at 7 p.m. March 22. The free event will be held at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Business Support Incubator, 615 S. Main St. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
This event is sponsored by the Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotion Commission and co-sponsored by the UAPB Business Support Incubator and Delta Rhythm & Bayous Alliance, according to a news release.
“Pitts comes from a family of talented blues musicians and has inherited their distinctive sound,” according to a news release. “At the age of five, he picked up his brother’s acoustic guitar and began playing. When he turned 13, his parents bought him his first electric guitar. Pitts played his first gig alongside his uncle, Steve Nelson, at This Is It, a popular blues club on Beale Street in Memphis, Tenn.”
Pitts later became a regular performer at the Memphis blues venue, Wild Bill’s, where his uncle and great-uncle, Clarence Nelson, previously [performed].
The artist has shared the stage with musicians such as Bobby Rush, Latimore and Blind Mississippi Morris. He joined Mississippi Bigfoot in 2016, serving as a guitarist and vocalist.
Now performing as Chris Pitts in the Memphis Prime as lead vocalist and guitarist, he is joined by friends Tay, Russ and Courtney.
