PBICVR names new board member
Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. has added Timothy Mitchell, a former PBICVR King Team member, to its board of directors.
Mitchell is an extension assistant specialist and accountant at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, according to a news release.
Mitchell is a 2011 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. He graduated from UAPB in 2016, majoring in agricultural business. He has a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University. He was also recognized by Delta Mu Delta International Academic Honor Society for achieving the highest grade point in school history, according to the release.
He becomes the fourth King Team alumnus recently selected as a board member.
“I am pleased to see the many seeds planted yield fruit in the city and state, e.g., teachers, judges, business owners, prosecuting attorneys, politicians, head college baseball coaches, Arkansas Hall of Fame, NFL Hall of Fame football players, etc., have been associated with the mentoring program,” said the Rev. Jesse Turner, PBICVR executive director.
Mitchell joined the King Team in 2003, where he was chaplain. He participated in Pen or Pencil initiatives, drug education for youth, PBICVR Community Cleanups, and the Original KingFest Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Marade Festivities. He has studied the Six Principles of Nonviolence, anti-bullying, and conflict resolution skills.
PBICVR selected Mitchell to be on stage with First Lady Michelle Obama as she delivered the keynote address at the National Mentoring Summit in January 2011 in Washington, D.C., at the Library of Congress.
He is in the deacon ministry at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Mitchell said God leads him to serve others. He has compassion for helping others achieve their dreams and accomplishments and to motivate others like him to strive for excellence in being a learner today and a leader tomorrow, according to the release.
