OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK 6, MOREHEAD STATE 0

Arkansas-Little Rock ended its four-game losing streak with a win over Morehead State in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams Friday night at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

UALR starting pitcher Hoss Brewer (2-2) allowed 1 hit and struck out 11 in seven innings. The Trojans had 16 total strikeout as Josh Beezley pitched the final two innings and picked up five.

UALR (12-10, 1-0) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early advantage. The Trojans added two more runs in the fourth which would be more than enough offense as Morehead State (12-10, 0-1) could not generate anything offensivel­y against Brewer.

Jake Wright went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI to lead the Trojans at the place.

Eagles starter Luke Helton (4-2) struck out 6 batters, but gave up the 6 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings and was charged with the loss.

SUN BELT CONFERENCE MARSHALL 6, ARKANSAS ST. 2

Marshall built a 6-0 lead through four innings and took a victory over Arkansas State on Friday night at Jack Cook Field in Huntington, W.Va.

Gio Ferraro opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a 2-run home run off Arkansas State starter Jelle van der Lelie. Leading 3-0, the Thundering Herd rattled off three more runs in the fourth. A 2-RBI triple from Elijah Vogelsong scored Owen Ayers and Ferraro, extending the lead to 6-0.

Brayden Caskey got Arkansas State (13-11, 1-3 Sun Belt Conference) on the board in the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run to left field. Caskey would score the second run of the game for the Red Wolves in the ninth on am RBI groundout by Aidan Houseworth.

Starting pitcher Drew Harlow struck out eight in six innings to pick up the win for Marshall (7-14, 1-3), while van der Lelie gave up the six earned runs and was charged with the loss for the Red Wolves.
