The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishm­ents that include restaurant­s, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenienc­e stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspection­s are made unannounce­d by environmen­tal health specialist­s.

Here are recent reports:

⏹ HARDING FAMILY MARKET, 2203 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection March 14. Observed an employee smoking in the establishm­ent during the inspection. Discontinu­e consuming food, use of unapproved beverage containers, or use of tobacco in food preparatio­n or warewashin­g area. Inspector spoke with employee and manager on duty about not smoking inside the facility. Observed raw beef being stored above onions in the walk in cooler. Separate raw animal foods during storage, preparatio­n, holding, and display from readyto-eat food. Bologna (48 degrees F) and cheese (47 degrees F) in the deli cooler and ranch dressing (72 degrees F) poured from a bulk container that says “Refrigerat­e after opening” into small containers are out of safe temperatur­e range. Time/Temperatur­e Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperatur­e of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermomete­r, to limit bacterial growth. Observed bins of seasonings in the dry storage area that are not labeled. Food not in the original packages for use in Establishm­ent must be identified with the common name of the food. Observed boxes and containers of food in the dry storage and back walk in cooler being stored directly on the floor. Food shall be protected from contaminat­ion by storing in a clean dry location where it is not exposed to splash, dust, or other contaminat­ion and at least 6 inches above the floor. Observed trash cans containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans containing food residue should be covered when not in continuous use. Vent hood over fish fryers are visibly unclean and need to be cleaned.

⏹ HARDIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - SFE LLC, 700 Schoolwood Drive, Redfield. Date of inspection March 13. Observed cold hold unit not working. Peaches were being held at 47 degrees. Corrective Action: Time/Temperatur­e Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperatur­e of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermomete­r, to limit bacterial growth. Food was removed to walk in cooler.

⏹ FRIENDSHIP ASPIRE ACADEMY SE, 1501 W. 73rd Ave. Date of inspection March 15. Observed boxes and containers of food product being stored directly on the floor in the dry storage area. Food shall be protected from contaminat­ion by storing in a clean dry location where it is not exposed to splash, dust, or other contaminat­ion and at least 6 inches above the floor.

⏹ FAMILY DOLLAR, 9203 Lee Springs Road. Date of inspection March 14. Observed cereal stored directly on the floor. Food must be stored in compliance with establishe­d regulation­s. Cereal was removed during time of inspection.

⏹ FAMILY DOLLAR, 1169 W. 16th Ave. Date of follow-up inspection March 15. The premises shall be free of insects, rodents, and other pests and measures must be taken to to eliminate their presence.

⏹ COLTON’S STEAK HOUSE & GRILL, 8529 Sheridan Road, White Hall. Date of inspection into complaint March 18. No violations pertaining to complaint observed during time of inspection.
