The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishm­ents that include restaurant­s, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenienc­e stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspection­s are made unannounce­d by environmen­tal health specialist­s.

Here are recent reports:

▪ L.L. OWEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 3605 Oakwood Road. Date of inspection March 26. All drinking (containers) must have a lid and straw. A closed BEVERAGE container if the container shall be handled to prevent contaminat­ion of: (1) The EMPLOYEE’S hands; (2) The container; and (3) Exposed FOOD; clean EQUIPMENT, UTENSILS, and LINENS; and unwrapped SINGLE-SERVICE and SINGLE-USE ARTICLES. Corrected on site.

▪ THE RED OAK STEAK HOUSE, 1 Saracen Resort Drive. Date of inspection March 27. Beef and bacon (44 degrees F) were out of safe temperatur­e range in the pull out cooler. Time/Temperatur­e Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperatur­e of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermomete­r, to limit bacterial growth. All food in the pull out cooler were pulled to be discarded during the inspection.

▪ QUAPAW KITCHENS, 1 Saracen Resort Drive. Date of inspection March 27. Observed a buildup of food residue on the shelf in the kitchen prep area. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulati­on of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

▪ PIZZA HUT/JBJ, 1050 L.A. Prexy Davis Drive, SLOT 4901 DR. Date of inspection March 28. Observed wiping cloths laying on counter top. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulation­s pertaining to Retail Food establishm­ent.

▪ GRIT & GRACE NUTRITION-Pine Bluff, 7106 Dollarway Road, Ste. 140, White Hall. Date of inspection March 28. No violations observed during time of inspection. Okay to operate — permit given.

▪ HARDIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - SFE LLC, 700 Schoolwood Drive, Redfield. Date of follow-up inspection April 1. Violation corrected during time of follow-up inspection.

▪ CAMELOT FOOD MART INC., 4012 Old Warren Road. Date of follow-up inspection April 2. Violation corrected at time of follow-up inspection.

▪ TASTY DONUTS, 2720 S. Hazel St. Date of inspection into complaint April 3. Observed no violations pertaining to complaint.

▪ TASTY DONUTS, 2720 S. Hazel St. Date of inspection March 19. Observed zero footcandle­s in kitchen area. Lights need to be replaced.
