KENNESAW STATE 11, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 2

For the third time in its past two series, the University of Central Arkansas’ bullpen allowed late runs while the offense sputtered in a loss against Kennsaw State on Saturday at Kennesaw, Ga.

The Bears (13-20, 4-10 ASUN) scored first with a Bryce Cermenelli RBI double in the third inning, but the Owls (19-14, 9-5) came back to make the score 3-1 in the fourth inning.

UCA’s Zeb Allen hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, but it was cancelled by an Isaac Bouton solo home run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 4-2.

Against UCA reliever Mason Griffin, Kennesaw State scored 6 runs in 2 innings on 6 hits and a walk. The Owls hit two home runs and a double off the senior. They tacked another run on in the eighth inning against Jackson Schwank to make it 11-2.

OHIO

VALLEY UALR 9, TENN.-MARTIN 6

Arkansas-Little Rock hit five home runs Saturday on its way to a victory over Tennessee-Martin afternoon at Skyhawk Field in Martin, Tenn.

Skyler Trevino went deep twice, hitting solo home runs in both the top of the fifth and sixth innings. Trevino’s homer in the fifth broke a 1-1 tie. Later in the fifth inning, Nico Baumbach hit a three-run home run to give UALR (1816, 7-4 Ohio Valley) a commanding 5-1 advantage.

Luke Pectol and Noah Brewer also homered for the Trojans. Tenn.-Martin (13-22, 5-6) was paced offensivel­y by Andrew Fernandez and Blaze Bell who each drove in a pair of RBI in the losing effort.

Skyhawks starting pitcher Eric Steensma was tagged with the loss after giving up five earned runs. UALR starter Jackson Wells earned the win and Jacob Weatherley picked up his seventh save of the season after striking out five batters while pitching the final 2 2/3 innings of the game.

SWAC

TEXAS SOUTHERN 5, UAPB 1

Texas Southern scored four runs in the sixth inning to break open a scoreless game as it took the weekend series from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at the Torii Hunter Complex in Pine Bluff.

Michael Goudeau blasted a grand slam in the sixth inning for the Tigers, who took advantage of a rash of mistakes by the Golden Lions to win their second straight game. Jaden Jones scored off an error in the seventh to give Texas Southern (13-18, 9-3 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference) a 5-0 lead.

UAPB (13-21, 4-10) got a single run back in the bottom of the seventh on Gavin Terry’s run-scoring single, but the Golden Lions had a tough time getting much else.

Goudeau, Shannon Martin and C.J. Castillo all had two hits for the Tigers. Dalton Alford struck out 6 and gave up 4 hits in 7 innings to nab the win.

Five players had a hit for the Golden Lions, who committed five errors and left 10 runners on base.

SUN BELT

ARKANSAS STATE 5, SOUTH ALABAMA 3

Cross Jumper hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie and give Arkansas State the lead on its way to a victory over South Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Stanky Field in Mobile, Ala.

Allen Grier, Cason Tollett and Austen Jaslove each recorded an RBI in the win. Jaslove and Grier also had two hits apiece in the game. Arkansas State (17-19, 4-10 Sun Belt Conference) totaled nine hits.

South Alabama (19-16, 5-9) was led offensivel­y by Rett Johnson, who collected a pair of hits. Kole Turner earned the win for the Red Wolves, while Hudson Ross was able to get the final two outs of the game and pick up the save. Danny Diaz was charged with the loss for South Alabama.
