The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishm­ents that include restaurant­s, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenienc­e stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspection­s are made unannounce­d by environmen­tal health specialist­s.

Here are recent reports:

■ SONIC DRIVE IN - WHITE HALL, 8601 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of follow-up inspection April 22. Observed several flies throughout the kitchen. Maintain the premises free of insects, rodents, and other pests. The presence of insects, rodents, and other pests shall be controlled to eliminate their presence on the PREMISES by (A) Routinely inspecting incoming shipments of FOOD and supplies; (B) Routinely inspecting the PREMISES for evidence of pests; (C) Using methods, if pests are found, such as trapping devices or other means of pest control and (D) Eliminatin­g harborage conditions. Manager said that the pest company has been called and they are waiting on them to come out. Observed trash cans containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans containing food residue should be kept covered when not in continuous use.

Maintain the premises free of insects, rodents, and other pests. The presence of insects, rodents, and other pests shall be controlled to eliminate their presence on the PREMISES by (A) Routinely inspecting incoming shipments of FOOD and supplies; (B) Routinely inspecting the PREMISES for evidence of pests; (C) Using methods, if pests are found, such as trapping devices or other means of pest control and (D) Eliminatin­g harborage conditions. Observed trash cans containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans containing food residue should be kept covered when not in continuous use. Flooring in the kitchen, especially under the shelves and cooking equipment, are unclean. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.

■ PINE BLUFF SCHOOLS FOOD WAREHOUSE, 105 S. Walnut St. Date of inspection April 22. Observed some damaged parts of the ceiling throughout the dry storage area. The physical facilities shall be maintained in good repair.

■ MCDONALD’S, 8012 Sheridan Road, White Hall. Date of follow-up inspection April 22. No violations reported.

■ MCDONALD’S, 8012 Sheridan Road, White Hall. Date of inspection April 16. Observed several flying insects throughout the establishm­ent during the inspection. Maintain the premises free of insects, rodents, and other pests. The presence of insects, rodents, and other pests shall be controlled to eliminate their presence on the PREMISES by (A) Routinely inspecting incoming shipments of FOOD and supplies; (B) Routinely inspecting the PREMISES for evidence of pests; (C) Using methods, if pests are found, such as trapping devices or other means of pest control and (D) Eliminatin­g harborage conditions. Observed food spillage on the floors in the dry storage area. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean. Employee mopped the floors in the dry storage area during the inspection.

■ ELIOR NORTH AMERICA @ PINE BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL, 711 W. 11th Ave. Date of follow-up inspection April 22. No violations reported.

■ ELIOR NORTH AMERICA @ PINE BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL, 711 W. 11th Ave. Date of inspection April 12. The temperatur­e of the automatic dishwasher on the plate simulating dishwasher tester is 142 degrees F. The temperatur­e of the fresh hot water SANITIZING rinse as it enters the manifold may not be more than 90°C (194°F), or less than: (1) For a stationary rack, single temperatur­e machine, 74°C (165°F); or (2) For all other machines, 82°C (180°F).

■ BURGER KING, 5515 Olive St. Date of inspection into complaint April 23. No violations reported.

■ BURGER KING, 5515 Olive St. Date of inspection April 23. Observed boxes in walk-in freezer stored directly on floor. Food must be stored six inches above floor to be in in compliance with establishe­d regulation­s. Boxes were removed during time of inspection. Observatio­n: Trash cans containing food residue must be kept covered when not in continuous use. Observatio­n: Observed missing floor tiles in establishm­ent. Corrective Action: The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair.

■ MATTIE’S ITALIAN ICE CREAM, 8007 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of inspection April 24. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisor­y and management responsibi­lity and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparatio­n and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficienc­y of required informatio­n through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM.

■ AUDUBON SCHOOL, 2206 Ridgway Road. Date of inspection April 24. Observed boxes stored directly on floor in pantry area. Food must be stored six inches above floor to be in compliance with establishe­d regulation­s. Boxes were removed during time of inspection.
