FAYETTEVILLE — Jack Morris Campbell Jr.,
of Fort Smith, died peacefully Wednesday, April 24, 2024, after a brief illness; he was 81-years old.
Jack was born in Van Buren, Ark., in 1943, to Margie Matlock Campbell and Jack Campbell Sr.
Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Linda, of 57 years; daughter, Leigh Campbell Castleberry, and husband, J.D. Castleberry, of Fayetteville; son, Mark Campbell, and wife, Stephanie Campbell, of Tulsa; brother, Paul Campbell, and wife, Cheryl Campbell, of Denton, Texas; and grandchildren, Jackson Castleberry and Madison Castleberry, of Fayetteville; two nieces and one nephew. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Campbell; and stepfather, Tom Robison.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. A visitation at 1 p.m. will be followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Honorary Pallbearers are Ronnie McDaniel, Charles Ray, Sam Hiller, Gerald Crawford, Ken Kifer, Joe Ragsdale, Richard Carlisle, Russ Carlisle, Jack Hood, Eual Titsworth, Randy McDaniel, & John McConnell. He would tell you his favorite child of all was his beloved Dog, Oliver. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Grand Village at Clear Creek and Edgewood Health & Rehabilitation Center. Jack was an accomplished athlete in his early years, and served in the Air Force National Guard. He loved playing golf, cheering on the Razorbacks, and was a skilled fisherman. Jack cherished his time with the Jack Patch Fishing Club on the Ouachita River. Jack’s perfect day would be catching a big fish in the morning with his many friends, and then watching the Hogs beat Texas with his family in the afternoon. Jack retired after establishing a successful 40+ year career in the oil and gas business, which included serving as President of the Arkansas Oil Marketers Association. Campbell Oil Company was a reliable fuel supplier for Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma for many years. Jack had an entrepreneurial spirit that he parlayed into many years of success in the convenience store and car wash business as well. Jack was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda, and loved traveling and spending time with her. A true love story for over 57 years. Over the years, Jack taught his children the value of hard work and the importance of being kind to all people. Jack had an amazing heart and cared greatly for his family and friends.
