KENSETT — Wilma Jewell Norman

arrived in the arms of her Beloved Savior on April 21, 2024. She was 100 years of age. She was born on December 25, 1923, in Nashville, Ark., to Verna Walden Jewell and James L. Jewell.

A 1942 graduate of Nashville High School, she met her husband of 51 years, Dale Kent Norman, while working at the Jacksonvil­le Munitions plant. Together they raised three children in Searcy, Ark., Karen Norman Comer, David Kent Norman, and Roger Allan Norman.

She was an employee of Sears Roebuck and Company from 1955-1968. In 1979-1989, served as North Arkansas President for Aglow Internatio­nal, establishi­ng 23 local chapters reaching hundreds of women and teaching them the love of the Lord. She was also a Mary Kay cosmetics Director, 19851994.

She was privileged to serve as Women’s Ministry Chairman at River of Life Church in Judsonia, Ark., until her retirement at age 85.

Her greatest ministry was to her children, grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren and great great grandchild­ren. Wilma truly showed the love of Jesus and led by example. “Her children rise up and call her Blessed.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Kent Norman; infant son, Richard Gary Norman; mother, Verna Trebble; father, James Jewell; sister, Edna King (Fred); sister, Sally Sherrod; brother, Jack Jewell; and son-in-law, Clyde Comer.

Wilma leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Karen Comer; son, David Norman (Kathy); son, Roger Norman (Recca); grandchild­ren, Kristen Kingston, Karla Newman (David), David Joe Norman, Corby Norman, Sarah Fitzhugh (Casey), Roger Allan Norman Jr.,; great-grandchild­ren, Grace Kingston Wischnewsk­y, (Trevor), Annie Kingston, Dylan Norman, Ashton Norman, Ellie Kingston, Alleigh Newman, Abram Newman, Arden Asby, and Ada Asby; great-great-grandchild­ren, Charlotte Jewel Wischnewsk­y and Graham Wischnewsk­y; nieces, Patricia Koch, Daphene Johnson, Nancy Hebert, Patti McLaughlin, and Kathy King; nephews, Rick Johnson, Gary Sherrod, Jeffery Sherrod, Jon Ed Jewell, and Stephen King.

The family wishes to thank all the special friends who visited her faithfully in her later years: Pat Rollins, Debbie Lewis, Jolene Staker, Norma Waddell, Pastor Carl Medley, Pastor Keith Tomlinson, and special caretakers, Lesa Corter and Carol Pool.

Services will be held at Powell Funeral Home’s Searcy location on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Presiding at the service and graveside will be Pastor Keith Tomlinson and Pastor Carl Medley.
