Young left this earth to be with her Lord on April 23rd at 8:20 p.m. at the age of 92. Violet was born on May 25th, 1931, to Ruben Hiram Barnes and Lenner (Eason) Barnes near England, Ark., moving to Adona in her early teens. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life Harold Edward Young Sr. (Buddy), and siblings, Goldie West, Frances Reeves and Delbert Barnes.

Violet lived life to the fullest.

She and Buddy were incredible parents raising three sons in Little Rock and at their lake house on Harris Brake.

They were a close family involved in sports, hunting and fishing. Violet was a stellar athlete playing guard for Adona High School where she was named All-State. Violet was raised on a farm and was a hard worker; there wasn’t a job she couldn’t or wouldn’t do. She farmed fields and chopped cotton alongside men – beating them in cotton chopping contests. Violet and Buddy were devout Christians and raised their family in the Baptist Church. They were founding members of Wakefield Baptist Church. When Buddy passed away, Violet went to school to become a Psychiatric nurse at the Arkansas State Hospital where she worked for 22 years. Violet was known as a caring yet tough nurse and was respected by her patients and co-workers. When Violet retired, she moved from Little Rock to Morrilton and volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary. Violet moved her letter to Calvary Baptist Church in Morrilton in 1998 and was active in their programs. Violet lived at Azalea Commons and later Springdale Health and Rehab, both in Springdale, Ark.

Violet was a very loved mother and leaves three sons to cherish her memory, Harold Young Jr., Morris Young (Dona) and Dennis Young (Kaye). Violet was a very involved grandmother and was blessed with five grandchildren who adored her. Melissa McClain, Harold III (Buddy) Young, Alan (Sonny) Young (Althea), Daniel Young, and Bryan Young (Caroline). She lived for her grandchildren and spoiled them rotten. Violet also has five great-grandchildren who she loved dearly. Ethan Loomis, Cy Young, Emery Young, Kaylan Young and Rua Young.

Violet will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Buddy, on Saturday, May 4th at 2 p.m. (graveside service) at the McGhee Cemetery on Highway 10 in Perry, Ark. Her nephew, Dr. Steve Young, will perform the service. Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton is handling the care and services.
