Man alleges threat from brother-in-law
Pulaski County sheriff’s office deputies arrested a man who threatened to kill his brother-in-law while holding him at gunpoint Saturday night, an arrest report stated.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched to 3011 Sawmill Trail in Little Rock at approximately 6:50 p.m. in response to a complaint from Cameron Welsh, who said his brother-in-law, Christopher Mills, 42, of Little Rock, had pointed a firearm at him and threatened to kill him.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Welsh, who advised them that Mills had returned to his residence at 3022 Sawmill Trail, the report states. Deputies also questioned Welsh’s mother, who stated that she had witnessed the altercation, supporting Welsh’s claim that Mills had threatened to kill him at gunpoint.
The deputies then went to Mills’ residence, where they detained him, the report stated.
According to the report, Mills told officers that he retrieved a .22-caliber revolver from his home after he heard his wife, Opal Mills, say, “Please stop, I’m not threatening you,” to Welsh, who is her brother, as she attempted to calm him down outside his home.
After retrieving the revolver, Mills returned to Welsh’s residence, where he found Opal standing in the yard and Welsh hiding by the side of the shed on the property. Mills told officers that he then pointed his firearm at Welsh’s abdomen when Welsh stepped out from the side of the shed.
According to the report, Mills told officers that he retreated to his residence after Welsh hid behind the shed.
The report states that the arresting deputy completed a National and Arkansas Crime Information Center query on Mills with Pulaski County sheriff’s office Dispatch and was advised that Mills was a convicted felon.
The deputy then retrieved the firearm from Mills’ residence and placed him under arrest, during which a Ziploc-like type container that held a green leafy substance fell out of Mills’ front left pocket, the report states. Deputies transported Mills to the Pulaski County jail without further incident.
Mills faces felony counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member and possession of firearms by certain persons. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
He was being held at the Pulaski County jail Sunday evening, according to an online inmate roster.
