Naomi Campbell welcomes her second child, a boy
Naomi Campbell has welcomed baby No. 2.
“My little darling, know that you are cherished beyond measure and surrounded by love from the moment you graced us with your presence,” she posted Thursday on Instagram. “A True Gift from God – blessed!”
The supermodel and host of the reality competition series “The Face” confirmed the baby is a boy. Campbell, 53, did not offer further details.
In May 2021, she introduced her firstborn on Instagram, followed by the cover of British Vogue, saying only that the child, a girl, “wasn’t adopted. … She’s my child.”
On Thursday, Campbell’s post was accompanied by a photo showing the new baby from behind as she held him with her daughter’s tiny hand joining theirs.
“It’s never too late to become a mother,” Campbell wrote.
Scott will not face criminal charges in deadly crowd surge
A Texas grand jury declined to indict rap superstar Travis Scott in a criminal investigation of a deadly crowd surge at the 2021 Astroworld festival, where some spectators were packed so tightly they could not move their arms or even breathe, his attorney and prosecutors said Thursday.
Lawyer Kent Schaffer confirmed that the Harris County grand jury had met and decided not to indict his client on any criminal charges stemming from the concert.
“He never encouraged people to do anything that resulted in other people being hurt,” Schaffer said, adding that the decision is “a great relief.”
Circumstances of the deaths limited what charges prosecutors were able to present before the grand jury, eliminating potential counts such as murder, manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide, said Alycia Harvey, an assistant district attorney with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
That left prosecutors to focus on possible counts of endangering a child in connection with the deaths of the two youngest concertgoers, ages 9 and 14, she added.
The Nov. 5, 2021, crowd surge in Houston killed 10 young festivalgoers who ranged in age from 9 to 27. The official cause of death was compression asphyxia, which an expert likened to being crushed by a car.
Aldean, Wallen, more to perform at Covenant School benefit
“A Covenant Knight at the Grand Ole Opry House” – the latest event to benefit Nashville’s Covenant School in the wake of March 27’s tragic shooting – is set for Aug. 7.
Two of country’s biggest stars – Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen – are set to headline the event alongside a mix of other country artists, plus names notable in the contemporary Christian and gospel realms. These include Anne Wilson, Brandon Heath, Jeffrey Steele, Lee Brice, Maddie & Tae, NEEDTOBREATHE, Old Dominion, Zach Williams and more.
The event is being put on by BIG 615 radio host Storme Warren and Opry Entertainment Group, along with music industry veterans – and Covenant parents – songwriter Houston Phillips and Chad Schultz, vice president of Radio & Streaming, Marketing for Warner Music Nashville.
All proceeds generated by the benefit concert will be directed to the Community Fund to support mental health initiatives for those impacted by the shooting, plus facilitating a smooth transition back into the school premises and beginning a new school year.
“This event stands as a powerful testament to the unwavering strength of Nashville’s country music community, friends, neighbors, and especially parents,” said Phillips. “I was truly moved by the inherent goodness of those who offered support, no questions asked, as we worked to create an event that would lift up our community and contribute to Covenant School’s ongoing recovery efforts.”
