SHARPSBURG - Drew deGanahl 71, Sharpsburg, GA graduated from this life on June 27, 2023 in Georgia. He was born in Cherry Point, NC, to Capt C. Brice deGanahl, USMC and Caris Lamont deGanahl. He lived most of his life in Monmouth County. Drew graduated from Winchendon Boarding School, Winchendon, MA and attended the University of Conn where he was an all star swimmer. Drew was an avid water person, who enjoyed sailing, swimming, scuba diving and kayaking throughout North America and the Caribbean. During his 28 years in the corporate world, Drew served as VP of Datastream Int’l., a division of D&B Intl. and Reuters America, careers that took him around the world. After leaving the corp. world he went to work with his best friend, Jim Bollerman as Dock Master for the Sandy Hook Bay Marina to restore the damage from Hurricane Sandy. However, when he finally retired, he limited his wandering ways to discovering, visiting virtually all 48 contiguous states, seeing most of the National Parks and enjoying life living in his 19’ Winnebago. He was also able to meet and visit with close and distant relatives of the Ganahl/Walker/deGanahl clan living in this country. Drew was married to Linda deGanahl from 1984-2000 and lived in Rumson with her son, Anthony Mangarelli (AJ). Although divorced, Drew has found true happiness in his last few years, re-kindling the love that he had for Linda and being able to enjoy life with her, AJ & Julie, Coby, Alexis & Caden in Georgia. Drew is survived by his sisters, Sheila Moeller (Rolf), Wendy Johnson (Bill) their daughters, Reema Hayashida ( Eric), their son, Jackson, and Nadia Keilani (Alex) and Cathy Costello (Ken), Finn & Chloe, and his brother Brice deGanahl . Additionally, Drew leaves behind his step-daughter, Carolina d’Emery and her children, Charles, Bran, Teresa & James. Drew lived a full life, saddened for having to leave Linda after such a short reunion, and has passed away with few if any regrets, except perhaps not having had the opportunity to sail or kayak through the Panama Canal. While alive, Drew was a true wandering spirit and often paraphrased Samuel Clemons, “I’m not afraid to die, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.” At his request there will be no funeral.
