LAKEWOOD - Carol Buehner (née Kelly), age 84 of Brick NJ, passed away June 9, 2023 at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ to Captain Charles Kelly and Florence SanGiacomo. She attended Montclair State where she met Fred Buehner. They married and lived in the Ivy Hill Apartments with their dog Chipper before having children Christine and Craig.

They moved to Brick in 1966 where they lived for the next 50 plus years. Both taught at Brick Township High School. The joy of mom’s life was teaching English and coaching the twirlers. Mom loved being with all her girlfriends, hanging out in the teachers’ lounge, travelling, golfing, walking the boardwalk, lunch at the diner and talking on the phone for hours.

She and dad visited us at college, where they were famous tailgaters amongst our friends. After retiring, they lived part time in Bradenton Florida with their beloved dog Jazmine. They loved spending time golfing, going to the beach, attending happy hours and playing dominos with their longtime friends the Cream Puffs (Pechts). Amongst her happiest memories are the times spent with her cherished grandchildren Amanda and Eric, taking them to the beach in Cape May, attending Summerfest, going to the boardwalk, the park and attending Amanda’s many dance recitals and Eric’s soccer games.

On July 2, 2023, they would have been married 65 years. We lost dad in 2019. In her later years, mom moved to the Four Seasons retirement community. She took up art and won some ribbons for her watercolor paintings. If there is a casino in heaven, mom is seated at the Wheel of Fortune slot machine with a Diet Pepsi and a cigarette. We have been told mom was a special personality who lit up every room she entered. She will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her son Craig and his wife Kim, grandchildren Amanda and Eric, daughter Christine and Fred Russo of Laguna, CA, her brother Charles Kelly and wife Lauren, nieces Leslie and Sarah, nephew Charles Jr. and her many cousins.

A memorial service will be held on July 24th at The River Rock restaurant in Brick between 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. to celebrate mom’s life. All are welcome to attend.
