MIDDLETOWN - Joseph B. Capolongo, 83, of Middletown, NJ, died on July 5, 2023, in Holmdel, NJ. He was born in Asbury Park, NJ and lived in Middletown most of his life. Joe worked as a Vice President of Informatio­n Technologi­es for Bank of America before retiring in 1997.

He helped implement the first ATM network in NJ while he was with First Jersey National Bank, he taught various computer classes at Middlesex County College part-time, and he establishe­d a software developmen­t firm with his children after retiring.

Joe was an avid golfer, and he loved all types of music and movies. As a teenager, he was a member of an acapella group which performed in and around Asbury Park. He also served as Treasurer for the Middletown Youth Athletic Associatio­n (MYAA). Joe also served as a member of the advisory board for Monmouth County Board of Transporta­tion Planning.

Joe was a warm and personable individual who loved to engage in conversati­ons. He loved talking about sports, music, movies and politics. He was a talented communicat­or and storytelle­r, especially of stories about his family.

Surviving are his daughters, Donna (Will Kugelman) Capolongo of Middletown, NJ, Dana (Erik) Yedwab of Cream Ridge, NJ; two sons, Kenneth Capolongo of Rising Sun, MD, Fred (Susan) Capolongo of Montgomery, Twp; and six grandchild­ren, Samuel, Andrew, and Katherine Capolongo, and Julia, Leah, and EJ Yedwab; and brother Anthony (Grace) Capolongo of Middletown and his family.

Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Gail Capolongo.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

A Funeral Service will be offered Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10 am at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
