LITTLE EGG HARBOR - George Porter, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 15, 2023. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 4, 1943 and was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 31 years, Susan Porter, and parents Alvin and Dorothy.

George honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a Flight Engineer. After his military service, George worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 825 and took pride in working with his hands both professionally and in hobbies like working on engines, clearing trees and splitting wood for kindling, and various home projects. He loved football, bird watching, caring for his cherished pets, and spending time with loved ones. He especially loved laughing and sharing a drink with his dear friends at Motts Creek Inn, Lower Bank Tavern, and the Red Men.

Family was most important to George. He leaves behind seven beloved children - Jacqueline, Steven, Mari, Amanda, Alison, Donald, and Kimberly; and ten grandchildren - Jennifer, Jessica, Rachel, Sophia, Max, Mazzy, Daniel, Katie, David, and Linnea. They will deeply miss his kind heart, humor, and loving nature.

George touched many lives over 80 years and will be remembered for making each person feel special. Cremation will be private. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 20 from 4-6 pm at Maxwell Funeral Home in Little Egg Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Legion or your local animal rescue are welcome. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
