Lakewood man identified as deceased person found in trunk of car
LAKEWOOD – A 57-year-old Lakewood man has been identified as the person found dead in the trunk of a vehicle, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Friday.
David Koscuik was found Wednesday after Lakewood Township Police Department received a notification concerning an unconscious male located inside the trunk of a vehicle, parked in the area of Fairway Court in Lakewood Township, Billhimer said. Upon responding to the area, officers found Koscuik’s body.
The cause of Koscuik’s death remains under investigation, and authorities said there was no known danger to the public.
He was last seen Feb. 2 leaving a home on New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood that he lived in with his mother, before she passed away a few months ago, David’s brother, Tony Koscuik, said. David left with two unknown men, he said.
David found a job a few months ago at Renaissance Pharmaceuticals in Lakewood, and had received a paycheck and tax refund just before he went missing, his brother said.
About a week after he disappeared, David Koscuik called his girlfriend from Brooklyn saying he was trying to get home, Tony Koscuik said.
The Manchester Township Police Department issued an alert last week listing David Koscuik as missing. The post said he was last seen on Feb. 8 in Brooklyn. He was driving a gray 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.
“He had a good heart,” Tony Koscuik said of his brother. “He was smart about everything he did. And he never let anything bother him. It just rolled off him.”
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department, Manchester Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff ’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are investigating, Billhimer said.
Billhimer is urging anyone with information that could aid the investigation to call Detective Olga Brylevskaya of the prosecutor’s office at 732-929-2027, Ext. 4105 or Lakewood Detective Austin Letts at 732363-0200.
