Ruth peacefully passed away on March 17, 2024 with her daughters by her side at the Chelsea in Toms River.

She was born in Philadelph­ia to Blanche and Harry Slusmon on 3/27/28. She grew up in Island Heights and resided most of her life in Toms River and later back in Island Heights. She was predecease­d by her parents, daughter Jeannie Clayton (2023) and grandson Michael Weiner (2019).Two Sisters Louise Tansley and Blanche Galloway and a Brother Harry Slusmon.

She is survived by her daughters Judy Scheil, North Port, Fl., Nancy Stetz (Leny) Toms River, Joann Weiner (Gary) Toms River, Jackie Clayton Independen­ce, Ky. Son in law Ty Jordan, Knoxville, Tn. 5 grandchild­ren: Kevin Scheil, Nicholas & Bryant Stetz, Stephen Peterson and David Weiner. 7 great grandchild­ren: Cody & Khloe Scheil, Brayden & Carly Stetz, Caden & Aria Peterson and James DiStaulo. 1 great great grandchild: Michael Scheil, God daughter Cindy Regan and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ruth owned Claytons Catering in Toms River for 20 years with her husband Bill. She then owned The Red Barn Nursey in Toms River for several years, and helped start and worked at Meals on Wheels until she retired at 80 years old. She loved to bowl, ski, and travel and enjoyed spending lots of time at her cabin in the Poconos. The family would like to thank the staff at the Chelsea in Toms River for taking such good care of Mom these last 2 years. Cremation will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
