Paul Trebino

-

BRICK - Paul Trebino of Brick, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 22 after a long battle with COPD. Though it was very difficult for him to breathe at the end of his life, he always said that God blessed him with 96 well-lived years. Paul was born and raised in Belmar, NJ and graduated from Manasquan High School in 1946. He was employed by Jersey Central Power & Light for 42 years, where he eventually became Supervisor of the Meter Department.

Paul had a passion for music and was an accomplished jazz musician and singer in the Jersey Shore area for most of his life. He played bass, drums, and trumpet for various local bands including The Melodeers and Harry Hurley’s Big Band. In 1949, he met the love of his life, Jennie, at a dance in Belmar where he was the bass player in a band. It was love at first sight… they were married in 1950 and moved to Brick in 1953 where they started their family and remained there for the rest of their lives. Paul and Jennie were married for 72 blessed years before Jennie passed in 2023. Theirs was a true love story, and there is so much comfort in the promise that they are together once again. Paul’s desire was “to be with Jesus and Jennie” – he is with them now, and he can finally breathe again. After his retirement from JCP&L, Paul enjoyed cooking, playing golf, eating chocolate, cheering for (or yelling at) the NY Giants, and spending winters in Florida. He will always be remembered for his loving devotion to his family and his unwavering faith in God. He was a hardworking and dependable provider for his family and a fine example of Proverbs 20:7 – “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.”

Paul is predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Lucille (nee Galluccio) Trebino; his “beautiful bride” and soulmate Lena (“Jennie”) Trebino; his son, Dr. Anthony Trebino; and his son-in-law Jim Sands, Jr. He is survived by his 2 daughters: Maria Green (husband Tom) of Toms River, and Jennifer Sands of Brick; and his daughter-in-law Carla Trebino of Newtown, PA. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren: Kevin Green (wife Heidi), Brian Green, and Dr. Tarah Trebino; and 2 great-grandchildren, Isabella and Jackson Green. He was the beloved “Uncle Paul” to Anthony (Joan) Trebino, Lucille (Jay) Klinek, Celeste (Fred) Gomez, and Louis (Lars) Trebino; and a dear cousin to Peter (Diana) Smith, Lou (Fran) Trebino, Nancy Petillo, and Maria Hernandez. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to give special thanks to Greta Bublova, the caregiver who took exceptionally good care of both Paul and Jen for over 4 years. She became a dear friend to them; and her love, compassion, dependability, and skill kept them comfortable in their home till the end.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26 from 4–8pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy 88, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 10:00am at St. Dominic’s Church in Brick. Entombment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery, Wall Township. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Ministry at Living Faith Bible Church, PO Box 514, Brick, NJ 08723.
