Elizabeth J. Celauro

MANAHAWKIN - Elizabeth Celauro, age 97, of Manahawkin, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with her family by her side.

Born in West New York, NJ, she resided in Park Ridge before settling in Manahawkin 27 years ago.

Prior to retiring, Elizabeth was a Registered Nurse. After high school, she began her career as an Army Cadet Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken. After a 45 year career with a teaching certificate, she retired as a school nurse at Our Lady of Mercy in Park Ridge.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Salvatore; and her sisters, Emily and Ann.

Surviving are her sons: James Celauro, and Richard Celauro and his wife Gerry Celauro; five grandchildren: Marie and her husband Robert Crespi, James Celauro, Jr., Richard Celauro, Jr., Nichole Celauro, and Robert Villani and his wife Christine; three great-grandchildren: Lauren, Sophia, and Michael; and her sister, Dorothy Buesser. Elizabeth was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Road, Manahawkin. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11AM. Interment will immediately follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Waretown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barnegat Nursing Home, 859 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ 08005.
