PORT ST. LUCIE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Schumann, who departed from this world on March 25th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 19, 1958, in Jersey City, New Jersey to Frances P. Schumann and Edward T. Schumann.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Patti, his brother, Brian, and his wife Terri, as well as his sister, MaryEllen, and her husband Stephen. Ed will also be remembered by his four sons Matthew and his wife Sarah, Eric and his wife Krystal, Kyle and his wife Heather, and Joseph. Ed cherished his nephews and was a beloved grandparen­t to 7 grandchild­ren: Anakin, Elias, Jensen, Molli, Amelia, Bella, and Nova.

After finishing high school at Toms River South, he entered Ocean County College and graduated with a degree in Electronic­s. Following graduation, Ed started a successful career within the Toms River School System, starting in the maintenanc­e department and working his way up to Maintenanc­e Supervisor before retirement in 2015. His devotion and selfless dedication towards the betterment of the Toms River School System serves as a testament to the extraordin­ary man he was, leaving a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ed will forever be celebrated as a dedicated and hardworkin­g man who ensured his family was always his top priority and instilled the value of keeping one’s word.

In addition to his deep love for his family, Ed’s life was enriched by his passions. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast especially wrestling, baseball, and football. His adventures with his beloved wife, Patti, were cherished moments, filled with laughter and love. But Ed’s greatest source of happiness came from the precious moments spent with his grandchild­ren, where his heart overflowed with love and pride. Known for his captivatin­g storytelli­ng, Ed leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and love that will forever be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
