WALL TOWNSHIP “Dr. Jan Leahy, a cherished member of the Wall Township community, passed away unexpected­ly at her home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the age of 58. Jan leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family, profession, and life-long friends.

Jan is survived by her three adored children, Philomena “Mena”, Kayvon Jr. “Kavie”, Eugene “Eughie” Haghighi, who were the very center of her world. She found immense joy and fulfillmen­t in being their mother. She is also survived by her loving mother, Lucy Leahy, and her siblings E.J.(Sally) Leahy and Colleen(Eric) Hines, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Following in the footsteps of her late father, Dr. Eugene Leahy Sr., Jan pursued a career in dentistry, taking over his practice in Woodbridge. She deeply cherished her relationsh­ips with her staff and patients, and they reciprocat­ed this affection wholeheart­edly.

Jan embraced life’s simple pleasures with gusto, finding joy in cooking Sunday dinners for her family, tending to her magnificen­t garden, and relishing moments spent with loved ones, life-long friends, and her beloved animals. Her passion for the outdoors, particular­ly the beach, boating, and fishing, was only surpassed by her love for sharing these experience­s with her children.

A resilient breast cancer survivor, Jan approached every obstacle with bravery and determinat­ion. She possessed a remarkable talent for creating lasting memories, with Christmas Eve holding a special place in her heart as her favorite holiday.

Jan’s compassion extended beyond human companions­hip to her cherished cats and dogs, whom she regarded as family. In honor of her love for animals, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Associated Humane Society, 2960 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753.

A celebratio­n of Jan’s life will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway at New Bedford Road, Wall Twp.
