CBA team taking the Shore by storm

Boys lacrosse squad making a statement in conference play

MIDDLETOWN - A lot has changed for the Christian Brothers Academy boys lacrosse team this spring from last season.

From their defensive scheme, a freshman on the X, an all-offensive talent back from injury, the ‘most talented’ long pole head coach Dave Santos has ever seen - and more - the Colts are taking the Shore Conference by storm. After a home 14-3 blowout victory over Wall Wednesday, the game was more than just a mark in the win column.

“Kind of a statement win,” said senior and attack Ryan Martin. “First divisional game, it was nice to get out there, get on them early. It was nice to see our offense flourish. Starts with the defense.”

Martin, who was injured for most of last year, finished the game with four goals and one assist. The captain showed gratitude for the win as his team jumped out the gate to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. However, their biggest divisional game lies ahead.

“We definitely not (going to) get too high on the highs and not too low on the lows, we got a challenge on Friday,” Martin said. “RFH is arguably the best team in the Shore… I think we’re just focusing on them.”

CBA got out to 3-1 record on the season with a bounce back after a loss to Farmingdal­e, N.Y. The Colts undoubtedl­y have the talent to be amongst the top teams at the Shore - but can they be the last team standing come June is the bigger question. Here’s an analysis:
