Editor’s note: The following story includes details of the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” finale.

The witness for the prosecution is Bruce Springsteen.

The Boss appeared on the April 7 series finale of HBO’s “Curb You Enthusiasm” in the fictional trial of star Larry David, charged with violating Georgia’s Election Integrity Act. David gave Auntie Rae a bottle of water while she was in line to vote on the final season’s first episode.

David subsequently became a national hero whom Springsteen wanted to meet. It didn’t go well as David gave him COVID and the Boss had to cancel the Los Angeles show of his “farewell tour.”

“What kind of guy is Larry David? He’s the kind of man who carelessly, maybe even maliciously, let me drink from his glass and gave me COVID,” testifies Springsteen via remote. “Ruining the biggest night of my, and some of my fans’, lives and he doesn’t give a damn.”

“He gave me COVID!” said David to his lawyer.

“I still can’t smell a (blanking) thing,” Springsteen says.

The Boss was among a litany of “Curb” characters, including Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman, over the 24 years and 12 seasons the series has been on their air who testified. They aired their grievances with David, who is found guilty as charged. The finale echoed the famous 1998 finale of “Seinfeld,” of which David is a co-creator, where the cast was thrown into jail.

On Sunday there was a twist, though. Guest star Jerry Seinfeld spotted a sequestered jury member out at dinner in a public restaurant and the conviction gets thrown out — David is a free man.

Springsteen’s appearance on Sunday and on the Feb. 11 episode were cameos, but his guest-starring role on

March 31 was more extensive. At the Tribeca Festival’s “An Evening With Larry David” event on April 5 in New York, David and co-star Susie Essman said Springsteen improvised much of his dialogue on the episode.

“Springsteen was fantastic last week,” said Essman, according to People. “He really was. A lot of that was his stuff in that scene.”

Springsteen of Freehold and the E Street Band played the second of two shows April 7 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Another TV icon was in the audience: Henry Winkler, according to his X account. Winkler, who played the Fonz on “Happy Days,” posted several pics of the show throughout the night.

The group’s next show is Friday, April 12, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
