CHICAGO BEARS

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM AN NFL TEAM INSIDER FIELDS KEY FANTASY QUESTIONS

Do the Bears have plans to unleash Justin Fields more in the passing game in 2023?

After joining Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson as the only NFL quarterbacks to rush for at least 1,000 yards in a season, Fields said that he didn’t plan on reaching that milestone every year. Fields made strides as a passer last season, throwing for 12 touchdowns in his last eight games after tossing only five TDs over his first seven starts. With a better surrounding cast and another year in the system, Fields figures to throw for more yards and TDs than he has in his first two NFL seasons.

What will DJ Moore’s role be in the offense?

Moore averaged 73 receptions, 1,040 yards and four touchdowns per season over his first five years in the NFL with the Panthers and is expected to be Fields’ No. 1 target this year in Chicago. Moore put up those impressive numbers while playing with a wide array of different quarterbacks in Carolina, and he should thrive once he develops some cohesiveness with Fields. Moore could be the Bears’ highest-rated fantasy football player this season.

Who will take over as the lead running back following the departure of David Montgomery?

As was the case last season with Montgomery and Khalil Herbert, the Bears are expected to share the workload in the backfield this year, with Herbert, veteran free-agent acquisition D’Onta Foreman and fourth-round pick Roschon Johnson all likely to contribute. Foreman signed with the Bears after a breakout season with the Panthers last year, establishing career highs with 203 carries, 914 yards and five TDs.
