Up close and personal, Caren Akers works span a broad range of styles and themes. As an abstract expression­ist, Akers' paintings are shrouded in a variety of colors, ebullient forms, and patterns, capturing the vitality of living organisms. Her tactful choice of color and stroke method combine seamlessly to enhances this trancelike effect combined with a technique that is seemingly dictated by whim as she shifts from one style to another in her works.

Currently residing in South Florida, her various themes and concepts reflect the dappled light in her surroundin­g environmen­t, inspired by the uplifting lush greenery and tropical animals. Akers' seemingly spontaneou­s, yet carefully layered patterns lead a lively motion, and direction that enhances the overall visual experience of her work.

“Movement, do you move forward in a straight line? Or do you travel in twists and turns? Do you move fast or stop, watch, and observe before you move on? I want Movement considered as a metaphor for how you experience your own life as this is collection is my own reflection of how I am viewing life.”
