- Gabi Domenig

- By Yadira Roman

Austrian painter, and writer, Gabi Domenig displays a regal like interrelationship between figurative female subjects, and wildlife. Her large scale portrait canvases are filled with pulsating mixes of color and lavish greenery to celebrate her muses. Each painting is an invitation to a tropical paradise where each subject is depicted as the icon of their natural setting, as she compliments these lively works with playful and inviting narratives. The femininity of her subjects reveals a grounded strength found in the freedom of expression and adventure. Domenig works mainly with acrylic paints, tempera, and water paintable oil chalks in several layers of color, throwing elements of wistfulness and playfulness in her paintings, enhanced by her choice of vivid colors and subjects. Domenig's portfolio delivers a reflection of her zeal and enthusiasm for life, and each joyful work resonates with the heart just as it does capture the eyes.

“My way of painting has developed unhindered over the past 20 years and is attributed to Neo-Expressionism due to its intense color palette and the figurative painting. Man and nature are my main topics. Especially the respectful representation of women in all their emotional and visual facets is the central theme of my work. My pictures are colorful snapshots between dream and reality. Often mysterious and fairytale and want to find the way to the heart of the observer. As a typical feature of my pictures, a paradisiacal subject has established itself. Plants and animals have moved from the original decorative element in the foreground. Human and nature. Communication at all levels with the originality of creation.”
